In this solo, Nacho Cárcaba investigates the relationship between the body and space as a physical, emotional, and perceptual experience. The work begins with the question: what is space when there is only one body that inhabits it?
Far from being a neutral void, space becomes a companion, a resistance, a limit, and a possibility. Through movement, Nacho explores different conceptions of space: as an absolute entity that exists beyond the body, as a network of relationships activated with each movement, or as a mental construct that organizes experience.
The body not only inhabits the present space, but also dialogues with its own history. Memories, marks, and traces of a past life emerge in dance as layers that overlap, that tense, and that push toward action. The body becomes a living archive: sensitive, charged, and in transformation.
Throughout the work, the physical and emotional intensity grows. What begins as a contained exploration progressively unfolds into an ever denser, clearer, and more urgent presence. Each gesture marks a direction, each pause reveals a distance. The invisible becomes visible in the dance that emerges between the internal and the external, between what occupies space and what escapes.
Space is a physical meditation on how we inhabit the world when we are alone, but also on how space—and memory—accompany us, contain us, and transform us.
